1. How long does it take for new concrete to cure, and when can I drive on it?

While concrete begins to set within 24 to 48 hours, it takes 28 days to reach its full structural strength. You can walk on it after 24 hours, but keep vehicles off for at least 7 full days to prevent surface damage.

2. Why does concrete crack, and how do you prevent it?

Concrete naturally shrinks as it cures. We place control joints to let it crack neatly below the surface, while using a highly compacted subgrade and steel rebar reinforcement to prevent major structural cracks.

3. What is the difference between an overlay/repair and a complete tear-out?

An overlay works perfectly if the concrete is structurally sound with minor surface scaling. If the slab is shifting, deeply buckled from tree roots, or pooling water, a complete tear-out and replacement is necessary.

4. How do you handle proper drainage on driveways and patios?

We accurately grade the underlying subgrade before pouring to ensure the concrete slopes safely away from your home's foundation or garage walls at a standard minimum pitch of 1/8 inch per foot.

5. Are your accessibility and ADA ramps built to code?

Yes. We carefully measure and pour ADA-compliant access ramps to strictly meet standard slope configurations (typically a maximum 1:12 slope ratio), landing dimensions, and slip-resistant broom finishes.

6. What kind of weather is best for pouring concrete, and what if it rains?

Ideal conditions are clear days between 50°F and 90°F. If unexpected heavy rain occurs or temperatures drop drastically, we will actively monitor the forecast and reschedule your pour day to protect the mix.

7. Do I need a permit for my new driveway, patio, or slab?

Permit regulations depend on your specific city, county, and neighborhood HOA rules. Back patios rarely need them, but structural extensions close to public easements often do. We assist with this during consultation.

8. How should I maintain my concrete to make it last?

We recommend rinsing it annually with a garden hose or mild pressure washer to remove dirt. To safeguard your investment from moisture penetration and oil stains, apply a high-quality concrete sealer every 3 to 5 years.
